Relationship between family function and health status of elderly in home visiting health program

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was attempted in order to understand the degree of correlation between family function and health status of home visiting health program recipients.

Methods: The design of this study is a correlation study, and subjects of this study were 150 elderly individuals, both male and female, who are the over the age of 65. The subjects who meet the criteria of the study were visited with the visitation caregiver.

Results: Family function by characteristics of showed statistically significant differences based on presence of spouse, perceived financial conditions, type of health insurance, and perceived health condition. It is found that there was a weak relationship between family function and total health status(r= .386, p= .000). A slight correlation was found between family function and physical health status, and a weak correlation was found with social health status and emotional health status.

Conclusion: Family function and health status of home visiting health program recipients have a statistically significant relationship. In order to enhance the health status of subjects, the variables revealed in this study must be taken into account in development and application of family nursing mediation program that promotes family function.
